Uptake and accumulation of heavy metals by water body and Azolla filiculoides in the Anzali wetland

Abstract The Anzali international wetland is a valuable habitat to wide variety of aquatic flora and fauna. This ecosystem being threatened due various pollutants particularly the heavy metals discharging from different point non-point sources. Concentration (Cr, Pb, Hg, Cu, Zn, Cd, Ag Ti) was examined in water body Azolla filiculoides (an exotic fern wetland). samples regarding A. were randomly carried out three parts (eastern, central western parts) May 2015. After preparing digesting samples, concentration measured using ICP OES method. obtained results showed that Zn higher than other meals all ( p < 0.05). Overall, significantly eastern part two sampling locations Also with comparing , it found (except Cd Ag) had sample, while did not have significant difference each other. Based on results, can be concluded effectively absorb Cr, Ti so might used as species for bioremediation removal wetland.
